The arrangement conference gives the family and funeral director a shared plan. You do not need to arrive with every decision made. Helpful information includes the deceased person's full legal name, date and place of birth, address, marital status, parents' names, occupation and, when applicable, military service details. The funeral home will explain which details are needed for death certificate requests and permits. Do not send sensitive information through an ordinary website form unless the funeral home has specifically provided a secure method and explained why it is needed. If written funeral wishes, cemetery papers, a pre-arrangement agreement or an insurance assignment exists, bring a copy. Photographs, favorite music, readings, clothing and personal objects can help shape a service, but they do not all need to be chosen at the first meeting. It is often useful to identify one family representative who can confirm decisions and one additional person who will keep notes.
